From Slovakia to Denmark: The Journey Behind DANMAG Painting Service
My name is Daniel Gadus
I am the founder and owner of DANMAG Painting Service, which I built from the ground up. Today, after more than 15 years in Denmark, DANMAG is a stable and trusted brand in painting and renovation work, known for its professional approach, quality work and personal service.
Before DANMAG became a respected company, however, it was a long and not always easy journey – one that began in Slovakia.
Childhood and First Experiences with Craftsmanship
I come from eastern Slovakia, from an environment where work was always approached with respect and honesty. From an early age, I was led to believe that things must be earned – through my own effort. As a teenager, I spent my summers working on construction sites and with craftsmen. I first held a brush in my hand as a boy – I helped local craftsmen paint fences, walls and later facades.
These experiences were more than just physical work. They taught me consistency, patience and the fact that a customer remembers more than just the price – they remember the feeling they get from the result.
Moving to Denmark and New Beginnings
When I was 22, I decided to make a life decision – I moved to Denmark. The beginning was difficult. I didn't speak Danish, I had no background or contacts. But I wanted to work and build something of my own. First I did small jobs, later I came into contact with painting companies and began to gain experience under Danish conditions.
It took me several years to master the language, become familiar with the rules and system, and find the courage to take the next step: starting my own business.
Founding DANMAG (2009)
DANMAG Painting Service was founded in 2009. In the beginning, it was about me, a van, a few brushes and enormous will. I did everything myself: from working on orders, to communicating with customers to administration. I had no money for marketing, so I got my first orders through acquaintances and recommendations.
Right from the start, I set myself a few principles:

Rapid Growth and New Challenges
After a few years, I hired more people and we served customers throughout the region. With growth came new challenges: logistics, planning, accounting, team responsibility, time pressure. I realized that if I wanted to continue growing, I had to change the way I worked. Painting well wasn't enough – I had to start running business intelligently.

Discovery of Digital Tools and No-Code Technologies
About 5-6 years ago, I became interested in technologies that would help me run my business more efficiently. In the beginning, I was just looking for a simple way to make it easier to write quotes. However, there was nothing that worked the way I wanted.
So I started building it myself – first a simple price calculator, then a mini-CRM, later a work planner. I discovered a world of no-code development, especially the Bubble platform, and gradually built my own custom digital tools.
Today my painting company operates almost completely automated: orders, quotes, planning and invoicing are all handled through our own system.
DANMAG Today
DANMAG is no longer just a 'painter with a delivery'. It is a stable business that:
